Preschool Metea Adventure – “Aliens Vs. Natives”

This program has been developed for preschool children and their families or teachers.  Meet a naturalist at Metea’s Nature Center and learn about plants WANTED for invasion of our woods!   Fees include snack and drink for children and free gate entrance for the day.  Paid Pre-school teachers of attending students are free.

The Night Before “All Hallow’s Eve “

‘Tis the night before “All Hallow’s Eve”, When the creatures will be stirring, And even bats may take flight!  Take back the night!  This program includes a fall craft, a visit with a live bat (early in the evening), and one or more owls.  Free-will donations to Gone Batty bat rehab and/or Soarin’ Hawk Raptor Rehab are appreciated.

Fox Island County Park

Help save Fox Island’s Dune!  FREE annual park pass to those that volunteer at Fox Island County Park for one full 6-hour day of invasive honeysuckle removal!  We have non-native honeysuckle bushes taking over our wildflowers and out-competing our young tree saplings.  Bring leather gloves, long sleeves/pants and eye-protective glasses to drag out this unwanted invader!  If you want to do more than drag out the cut shrubs by hand please feel free to bring your own equipment, such as loppers, spin-trimmers (with blades) and chainsaws.  Allen County cannot provide you with or replace your powered equipment.  Using your equipment is at your own risk so please be careful.
