A midwest storm knocks out your power.  High winds damage you home.  Flooding is creeping up toward your front door.  Many things could require us to leave our home for a while.  Having a backpack of things ready to grab and go can help you keep warm, fed and safe until assistance arrives.  We will learn what is necessary, what is optional, and what is best left behind, and what you can find around you that is useful.

Some birds migrate to warmer climates.  Our winter birds are a hardy bunch and have adapted to our challenging Indiana winters.  Learn about these adaptions and how to care for your own backyard birds.  Fees include a snack/drink for each child.  Paid preschool teachers of attending students are free.

Help save our beautiful view of scenic Cedar Creek.  FREE annual individual park pass to those that work a full six-hour day of removing invasive, non-native plants.  Invasive plants are out-competing our native wildflowers and tree saplings.  Bring leather gloves/boots, long sleeves/pants and eye-protective glasses to drag out these unwanted invaders.  Feel free to bring your own equipment, such as loppers, chainsaws, spin-trimmers (outfitted with saw blades), etc…  Use of your equipment is at your own risk. Allen County Parks is not responsible for any damage to personal equipment.

Rain dates are November 13th and 15th.  Pre-register so we may plan on how much equipment to have on hand.
