Metea County Park

We named the camp and found a theme!!! Our Pioneer Camp will include candle dipping, basket weaving, spinning, weaving, dutch oven cooking, learn how pioneers in this area lived, worked and played. It’s a new camp theme for us, but one that will sure to be fun and educational at the same time. We’ll still swim and creek float this week as well.

Metea County Park

Float down Cedar Creek, on a giant tire tube; pack a backpack and hike across the creek to North Metea where we will set up a backcountry camp. Learn about creek life and the many historical uses our beautiful creek-side woodlands. Our kids swim at the beach daily.

We believe all Indiana children have the right to: Explore and play outdoors in a safe place, follow a trail, discover native plants, wildlife & history, experience outdoor activities like fishing, climb a tree, plant a seed, tree or wildflower, watch it grow, splash & play in streams, lakes and ponds. If your camper wants to learn how to canoe, and loves to swim the summer days away, then check out Fox Island’s day camps. We swim daily at Fox Island’s beach with our certified lifeguards. This camp will also teach canoeing, fire safety, how to build water stills, and debris shelters. Before you know it your child may be setting up his or her own fort in your own backyard.

Family vs. Wild is a challenge program designed to be a vehicle for a family to spend the day together. “Family” is defined loosely as a group of people made up of adults & children. The day involves teamwork, equality, physical activity, nature awareness, silliness, physical & intellectual challenges, time spent outside in nature, needing each other, testing one’s own limitations, and a lot of fun!

Learn how to paddle a canoe and get to where you aim to go!  You will learn the basics of water safety, parts of the paddle and canoe, and the strokes that will help you follow the course. Required for Canoeing the Cedar Creek trip.
